The storyline of this fantasy novel is a bit similar to the author's other series (Wolf's Own) - a prophesy, a suffering MC who's been used and is wanted by different groups of people. However, the similarities mostly bothered me at the beginning of the book, the story itself is different and once it got going, I was immersed in it until the end. The magic system is interesting, although I couldn't completely figure it out from this book (but since the MC himself doesn't really know what he can do, it's understandable). "Guardian" almost completely lacked a romantic element (except for some hints), but I expect this to change sometime in the next books - and the main characters are fascinating! I'm definitely looking forward to reading the other parts of this series.
